BUILDING BLOCKS
OF
THIS MARITIME MARVEL
Bhavnagar Port is an ambitious venture focused on developing, operating, and maintaining the north side of the existing Bhavnagar port. Spanning 235 hectares, with an additional 250 hectares reserved for future expansion, this project will be developed in phases, with construction commencing in the first half of 2025.
The proposed port will handle a diverse range of cargo, including containers, fertilizers, edible oil, liquids, chemicals, and CNG. It will feature state-of-the-art infrastructure, including one of the world’s largest navigation lock systems (385 meters x 50 meters). The new navigation channel is designed to accommodate larger, wider, and deeper draught vessels, such as Post Panamax Container vessels (14m draught) and Very Large Gas Carriers (VLGC) (12m draught).
This advanced port infrastructure will facilitate seamless vessel entry and anchoring within the harbour, ensuring tranquil conditions and 24/7 operations.
BHAVNAGAR PORT:
THE BLUEPRINT OF SUCCESS
Bhavnagar Port continues to be one of the most sought after port facilities owing to its excellent connectivity. It is a brown-field port with ample scope of expansion in the future, making it a worthy investment spot. Moreover, support from the government and other recognised bodies is further fueling its potential of growth.
WORLD’S FOURTH LARGEST
NAVIGATION LOCK
Bhavnagar Port is home to the world’s fourth-largest navigation lock, a remarkable structure measuring 385 metres in length and 50 metres in width. Fully automated, it ensures smooth and efficient vessel movement, handling post-Panamax and neo-Panamax ships with drafts up to 14.5 metres. This cutting-edge facility makes Bhavnagar Port a key hub for global trade, offering reliable and secure operations through advanced computer-controlled systems.
BASIN AREA- DEPTH-
TURNING CIRCLE
Bhavnagar Port features a remarkable artificial basin covering 108 square metres, with a quay extending 2,210 metres. The basin maintains a consistent water depth of 8.4 metres below chart datum and includes a 275-metre radius turning circle. Sheltered from waves, currents, and tides, this protected basin ensures 100% efficiency in terminal activities.
TERMINALS: GATEWAYS TO GROWTH
Soon to become India’s first smart and sustainable port facility, the Bhavnagar Port is massive to accommodate diverse terminals catering to diverse commodities.
Container Terminal
The Bhavnagar Port is planned to have two berths during Phase 1 and another set during Phase 2 with high capacity cranes, equipment and back-up facilities such as container yard, connecting the railway yard. With close proximity to the Dholera Special Investment Region, it is directly connected to the Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) in the Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). MOU signed with Dholera (SIR) to declare it as their ‘Go-to’ port, further facilitating its terminal potential.
